Health tip

The administration of an inactivated influenza vaccine to individuals at risk of complications of infection is the single most important measure in preventing or attenuating influenza infection and preventing mortality. Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for any person > 6months of age.

Rotavirus is the predominant agent of severe dehydrating gastroenteritis in both developed and developing countries. The illness ranges from asymptomatic infection (no symptoms) mild to severe dehydrating diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, electrolyte imbalance, shock and death. Incubation period is 1 to 3 days. Symptoms generally resolve in 3 to 7 days.
